A trust badge that means something, because most places don't earn it.
A five-star rating tells you the food is good. It doesn't tell you whether the kitchen understands cross-contamination. Basilly Verified is a separate, manually reviewed signal specifically about gluten-free safety — not a popularity score.
What we look at
Every venue is different, but a review generally covers:
Evidence review
We check the fryer setup, prep area separation, and staff training details submitted with the application.
A conversation with the venue
Where we can, a basilly editor follows up directly with the owner, manager, or kitchen lead before deciding.
Kitchen understanding
We're looking for real understanding of cross-contamination risk, not just a gluten-free item on the menu.
Ongoing accuracy
If a menu, kitchen setup, or safety detail changes, the badge can be reviewed again — verification isn't permanent by default.
Honest about the limits
Verification is based on the evidence a venue provides and what a basilly editor can reasonably check — it is not a food hygiene inspection and doesn't replace one. Kitchens change staff, suppliers, and processes, so always check current procedures with the venue before ordering, especially for coeliac disease.
A place without the badge isn't necessarily unsafe — it may simply not have applied yet. The badge is a strong positive signal, not the only one; the Coeliac Confidence Score on every listing shows exactly which safety details we do and don't have, whether or not a place is verified.
